Winners of CRA women's IM3.8+! Beat Nines in the final by 1 1/2 lengths.

Edward Mills reports:

After a 6.30 start, clearly chosen specifically to remind some of the crew of early morning outings of years gone by, we took Jenny Maud and paddled down to the start. A solid warmup and a couple of practice starts later, and we were backing down onto the stakeboat. (Oh, the joys of starting at the Railway Bridge ...)

The start was solid, but Nines held us close until, about ten strokes in, we started to lengthen out. A push for ten on the legs took us to half a length pretty quickly, which seemed to take the wind out of their sails; continuing with the push, we were able to move through them, one seat at a time, until we finally got clear water coming into the last 20 strokes. Coming into the finish, Nines looked like they might make a move, but after lengthening out we first pegged them back, then opened up an extra half a length before crossing the line.

All in all, a solid performance, backed up by a rate that was solid but not rushed (33 or so). A performance, indeed, certainly deserving of a visit to the Tiv afterwards.
