Downing race: they were pretty nifty and we were quite rough in the first race - the rhythm came and went but wasn't consistently there.

FaT race: the start is still a bit hit-and-miss but we settled into a good rhythm so we could all put the power down effectively during the race. Excellent steering and increased confidence gave us clear water as we came under the railway bridge.

Interestingly, although the crew was full of mathmos, the FaT race plan, loudly announced at the start, required each crew member to push 1% harder so that overall the boat would go 8% faster. Despite the result, I think they may be on to something: for bumps, we're each going to push 12.5% harder, so overall the boat speed will double and we'll bump in just a few strokes.
