Round 1: Lost to Jesus D

James Michael reports:

OpenQuote

After a neat row up to the start and a controlled practice start under the bridge, we banked up by the Plough knowing that whilst we were hardly first division Bumps material, we weren't looking like a complete epileptic spider either. Jesus D looked competent for a fourth novice boat also; we knew it would be a good race. From the "GO!" we drew ahead by a canvas and held them of until the railway bridge, when a bladeclash and a timely push from Jesus put them into the lead. We never quite recovered our form after that and ended up finishing half a length down, after what was a very close race.

All credit to the boat, it was a good race (perhaps one of the closest seen in CNR) and we rowed well. The next stop is Fairbairns...
